Consultation document ref: JHA/028/17, dated 16th March 2017
I have received an application from Wessex Water to close part of COPPICE STREET, SHAFTESBURY between Charles Garrett Close and St Martin's Road, for a distance of approximately 85 metres. The closure has been requested to allow Wessex Water to carry out five service disconnections in the highway. These works are programmed to commence on Monday 08 May 2017 for 5 days with an end date of Friday 12 May 2017. The road closure is necessary for safety reasons, as the works will take place within the whole width of the carriageway. However, the owrks will take place in five seperate phases, daily between 09.00hrs and 17.00hrs. The road will be open outside of these times.
Wessex Water will publicise the road closure in a number of ways: they will place information boards on the road in this area to inform the travelling public of the works; they will carry out a letter drop to local residents directly affected by the works; and they will sign a vehicular diversion route using the local road network. The following map shows the extent of the closure and the diversion route.
This document is for information only. However, if you have any concerns about this proposal, please contact John Alford ( by Wednesday 19 April 2017.
